Revalidation Consultation
This consultation was launched by the GMC on 1st March and closes on
4th June. There are three annexes referred to in the consultation that
aren't part of the main document. These are:

Strengthening Medical Appraisal November 2009
Paper produced by the Revalidation Support Team which gives their
ideas for the future of appraisal
Advice regarding appraiser training
Pages 3 - 6 of this 6 page paper produced by the Revalidation Support
Team gives some useful hints and tips to appraisers about what they can
be advising their appraisees to do now in preparation for revalidation.
The main focus of the workshop was the credit-based system for CPD.
The
RCGP document is the main reference for this. |

| Current appraisers |
GPs are reminded that they should not choose an appraiser
from their own practice or a practice where they carry out a substantive
number of sessions. GPs new to the Hertfordshire Performers List
are advised to contact Christine Poulton, Appraisal Lead at the PCT on
01707 390855.

Appraisal Toolkit Link to the online appraisal toolkit.
Appraisers - please note that you will need to register as an appraiser
for the PCT on whose performers list the GP you are appraising is
registered. e.g. if you are appraising a GP who is on the West Herts
performers list then you must be registered as an appraiser in West
Herts even if you are already registered as an appraiser in East & North
Herts. You can be registered as an appraiser in more than one PCT.

This document was used at the Appraisal Roadshow in
October 2007 to provide delegates with information about 360°
appraisal or multisource feedback and includes three examples of tools

Nicolas Small
Introduction Introduction to the concept of Enhanced Appraisal, themes
covered in the revised RCGP guide to revalidation, and some of the
frequently asked questions that need to be addressed locally and
nationally. Dr Small also presented two multi-source feedback
questionnaires that are under consideration nationally: one for
colleagues and one for
patients.
Martin Allen
What's all the + (fuss) about? Dr Allen, associate of the NHS Revalidation Support Team,
gave a presentation on what Enhanced Appraisal will mean for appraisers
and how they can start nudging their appraisees in the right direction
for meeting the requirements for revalidation.
