Recruiting and selecting the right person is accomplished by using systematic and fair processes, including defining and describing the job, agreeing appropriate terms, attracting the right candidates, interviewing, selecting and making the offer of employment. The process is time-consuming and expensive, and a poor decision can have disastrous consequences! Those carrying out recruitment and selection should be properly trained and be aware of the relevant employment legislation so as to avoid any potential discrimination. There is also a requirement under the CQC registration for the practice to demonstrate that objective recruitment procedures are in place. This workshop explains best practice in recruitment and selection and provides the information needed to adopt robust and fair procedures and avoid the possible pitfalls.
