Benefits of Mentoring:

  • GP to GP and GPN to GPN mentor / mentee relationship, which is relatable
  • Mentors are experienced professionals who understand your role
  • Mentors are best matched to mentees rather than allocated to ensure individuals access the right support
  • Mentors are external to own organisation / practice
  • Mentees are supported holistically, improving well-being inside and/or outside work
  • Identifies ways for the mentee to overcome particular issues, personally and/or professionally
  • Improves job satisfaction and retention
  • Increases confidence, motivation and resilience
  • Provides support to identify career development, assisting with goal setting
  • Provides stability during a time of rapid change and transition from training to real life practice
  • Signposted to further resources and support.

“Mentors provide support, direction and an objective view on how the mentee can develop and progress in their working environment“  [BMA]

“Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve performance and become the person they want to be” [The Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring]
